These pads kick ass and I'm loving the anti-slip grippy material on my hardwood floor.
This pisses me off because I don't and probably can't play 10 footers on it because it'll frick up, but yeah - everything else is perfect about this pad. I've gotten AAAs on Extreme US with this pad. Whee. _________________

In my opinion and experience, this is the best non-Ignition soft pad.
Out of the box, you can do all but the super-speedy 9/10 footers without any pad mods. There is still some drifting, but it drifts 1-5 inches instead of feet per song. The top of the pad is a harder plastic than the other cheap softpads, which keeps the pad flat and keeps it from crumpling up. The patterned white rubber of the bottom of the pad grips the floor much better than the cheap pads.
The only bad thing about this pad is that it's impossible to find it new sold seperately from the bundle.
Come to think of it, the bundle isn't easy to find either.
I've had it for a year and it still works great.
Edit: I don't use it everyday though. Average use around once every two weeks. I don't know if they last a long time under heavy playing.

I must say that the Konami soft pads are absolutely wretched and useless. I have gone through two of them in a period of 4 months. I just opted for a Red Octane. It's more expensive, but it's way worth it. _________________

I'm a beginner and I was thinking of getting the DDRMAX2 w/ Pad bundle, but will the pad break down quickly(I know it probably won't last as long, but even if it could last 2-3 months I could easily save up the money for a stronger pad

I weigh a little under 190 and the pad works fine for me. The pad doesn't move that much but that might be because I play with my whole foot, flat.
It's the best soft pad that's not an Ignition, that's for sure and even though I can barely play 9s on it - it's still awesome. _________________

I have the pad that came with the original DDR back in 2001 and the one bundled with DDRMAX2.
The one from the DDRMAX2 bundle was so great because it had a better non-slip bottom and felt better than the DDR original mat, but I ran into a problem. I stopped playing DDR for a while and when I started playing again the Down Arrow on the MAX2 pad stopped working while I was standing on another arrow, and then recently it stopped working altogether. The original pad is still working great even though it has a hole in it that is covered with tape. I stored the mat properly by folding it up the way it was folded when I first opened the box and didn't do much damage to it because I barely used the sucker and opted to use my original pad until it stopped working(which hasn't happened since). All of the other buttons still work 100% and I don't want to get a new one until I know there is nothing I can do to fix it.
Has anyone else experienced something similar? Do you know how I could fix this? Any help would be appreciated. _________________

Hard way: unthreading your whole pad and looking at the connections. Con: Takes forever. Pro: No damage to pad.
Easy way: Cutting off the back. Con: You see where this is going...
Check the top controller part (Unscrew it) and see. _________________

I have actually managed to find the Konami softpad for sale outside of the bundle--would it be worth scanning in the boxart to add to this thread? It sold for $30 at the local Sam Goody, but I have no clue if that was a recommended price or if they realized they had this sitting in the back room and just picked a number and slapped a price tag on it or what.
However, despite the very nice anti-slip bottom I'm going to have to mod my pads; on carpet they still tend to slip more than I can deal with (which admittedly isn't saying much; I am a newbie after all). I have appropriately-sized chair mats for carpet, is there a recommended way to mount the pad on the mat? |

Yeah, the retail price for it alone should be $30 IIRC and if you purchase the bundle the cost of the pad goes down to $20. (Game is $40, bundle is $60...) _________________

I bought the DDR extreme bundle the week it came out, and already the left arrow is already heading down the deep end, it is literally impossible to AAA anything with it due to the faulty left arrow (I wonder why it's always the left arrow that acts up...) anyway it's abvious that my many attempts to survive the legend of the max on heavy have taken their toll on the pad but I didn't expect it to take effect so soon...
anyway is the playstation Konami pads are the same the Xbox then this is a good pad until you start trying the nines and tens, the pad I got with Ultramix still works flawlessly, and i have had it almost a year now (I got ultramix for christmas and had never even heard of DDR before then) |

That's the reason that I only use my Official Konami Softpad for playing UP to 9s. _________________

I already have two Level Six pads...should I get the Konami pad?
And while I"m at it...can the official Konami Pad be modded with a dense foam insert? _________________

okay. i want to use this pad and a cobalt flux with doubles mode. I have heard of people stapling it to a piece of plywood as an easy modification, but i want to know if i could use this pad with shoes (i dont want to be stepping on my cobalt flux in just socks). Thanks in advance. _________________

You could do so unmodded but it would ruin the life of your pads. _________________

I know someone mentioned this before about the back arrow not working when you try to step on it while holding down another arrow, but i don't understand very well what they reply to that was when they said cut the back Won't that ruin it? And what am i looking for when and if i cut into it or unscrew the top part? |

Don't double post and if someone doesn't answer your questions it's probably because they don't know the answer. Just remain patient, that's all I can say. _________________
