Returning with fans excited to see a new Playstation 2 DDR game, Konami didn’t disappoint. Along with some songs from the Japanese DDR mixes (1998 and L’amour el la liberte), Konami has included some mainstream songs that the public has been hearing and dancing to on the radio (Genie in a Bottle and Get Busy). Although Genie in a Bottle is the cover that was included in Karaoke Revolution vol. 2, Get Busy is the actual song by the artist (Sean Paul) himself. Also surprising the audience is the addition of E-ROTIC’s song “In the Heat of the Night.” Fans of E-ROTIC have been enjoying her songs on Dance Dance Revolution mixes since the Japanese 3rd Mix. Along with the songs mentioned so far, there was also a new song (Polovtsian Dances and Chorus by Naoto Suzuki feat. Martha) included in DDR Extreme 2 that had fans playing it over and over again. Polovtsian Dances is a dance remake of the song by Alexander Borodin. DDR Extreme 2 also includes a new Dance Master Mode, that is equivalent to Challenge Mode, workout mode, and returns with the 5th mix wheel song selection (which many people agree, is the better version of the song selection screen). Along with the features shown off at E3, Konami also announced the introduction of Online Play in DDR Extreme 2, which will allow players to go online and play against/with other online players and see how they stack up against other players.
First Impressions Konami listened to the public and has changed the song select screen back to the way that the players liked (obviously changing the look), as well as included an online play. Now whether you’re an X-Box owner or a PS2 owner, you will be able to play against other people that aren’t right next to you. The songlist for the E3 demo was top-notch, with songs like L’amour el la liberte, Polovtsian Dances and Chorus, and Genie in a Bottle as one of the two easy songs. Konami definitely shows that the DDR Extreme series on PS2 will continue for years to come. Players will
enjoy DDR Extreme 2, when it comes out this fall. |
