I don't have DWI or SM, really the only way I play DDR on the computer is through FFR, and I want something more. Everyone praises SM, so I think thats's what I'm gonna get. But I have one question.

On the main SM site (www.stepmania.com) it says the latest version is 3.9 Alpha 20. But when I go to the site where you actually download it (here), it says there's a 3.9 Alpha 21 blink.gif . I have never heard of this, can someone help me out here.

Keep in mind too that these are alpha minor releases, not major ones. So they are not going to be announced like a major or even sub-version release.

Okay let me rephrase my question. Does anyone haaaaaave this Alpha 21? Because I've looked all around this forum and everyone seems to have 20, so I wanna kno if I should go for the 21 or stick to what everyone knows and loves.

I think I'm gonna go with 3.9 Alpha 20 since it's what everyone (except one person, apparently E13.gif ) has. I'll edit or post back in here once I'm done to praise it (hopefully lol).

Wish me luck... Something always manages to go wrong when I try downloading stuff...

there is a setting (I believe in "other options") that you need to turn on to save your scores dude.

oh, and I use a21...didn't try a20, so I have no clue what the differences are if it is anything noticable (which I highly doubt).

Ok I got it. Alpha 20. It worked fine, except it came with noo sooonnngggssss frust.gif frown.gif . I feel like such a n00b for not realizing that was gonna happen. Soooooo....

New question!!

Does anyone know of any good sites to get songpacks of real DDR songs or at least individuals???? I tried most of the ones on the StepMania website, and StepMania Underground looked like what I was looking for, but none of the links worked frown.gif . The rest of StepMania.com's were either DWI, required registration, or just didn't work. Do DWI songs work on SM, or what.... I just dont know. I've said it before, and I'm saying it again.... Help?

sticky at the top..."the new and improved get dwi/sm or .crs files here" or something similar...

check the front page of that for links to all the simfiles you'll ever want. DDRUK has official simfiles downloadable through bit torrent. you need to register, but it is no different than registering for ddrfreak. and you also need to download bit torrent, but I'm sure you can figure that one out just fine once you get into ddruk.

EDIT: and stepmania is able to read .dwi files just fine. as well as .bms if you have any of those floating around
