i know that all foam pads eventually wear out. at the most i'm hoping that this will last me 1 to 1.5 years.

You probably should have a look over at the Bemani Controllers subforum. Might find some good info there.

I always used a plywood mod to make the pad last much much longer and be much more accurate. Panel of plywood+duct tape+staple gun+plastic covering if you want to go that far = good cheap pad.

you should get a soft pad and mod it to plywood. I've had a doubles setup with 2 redoctane soft pads and I can still AAA stuff on them after almost 3 years.

I've had that dance pad before, and it lasted me about 2 weeks when I was on beginner/light. I recommend either the redoctane pads from the ITG bundle, konami soft pads, or gamestop soft pads.

Don't get a foam pad unless it's an ignition. Even then, a modded soft pad is better because the foam tends to move in a foam pad.

^ very true. The plywood mod is the way to go. if you do it right, it can almost feel like a metal/ hard pad, just flat!
